France decorates Lalo Schifrin
The Argentinean composer, conductor and pianist Lalo Schifrin is given the title "Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres" (Commander of the Arts and Literature) by the French minister of culture, Audrey Azoulay. The ceremony took place last Tuesday at the minister's office in Paris.
Schifrin is mainly known for his film music, but he also wrote many other compositions. In a reaction to the award the composer said: "I could not beleive it. This is a dream come true. I was so moved, that when I arrived in Paris, I had to cry".
