Monteverdi Vespers

concert
Samedi, Novembre 26, 2016 - 19:30
Composer reference:
Antiphon

For our autumn/winter concert, Antiphon is excited to be performing Monterverdi’s Vespers of 1610. This iconic work includes chorus, soloists and chamber orchestra, so we are once again teaming up with the chamber ensemble Nouvelle Ancienne led by Andrew Passmore. The concert will be in the beautiful and atmospheric surroundings of Hexham Abbey, and will be an evening to remember.
Please join us in Hexham Abbey on Saturday 26th November 2016 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16 (unreserved), available from Cogito Books in Hexham, or on-line at www.allegretto.co.uk/antiphon. Our last concert with Nouvelle Ancienne was a sell-out, so please don’t leave it too late! For any enquiries please telephone 07751 346487.
We hope you can come along, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Antiphon, directed by John Roper, is a small Tynedale-based chamber choir with a particular interest in early sacred music. We enjoy singing sacred music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods in the context of the church services for which it was written, including bringing music to local churches that cannot provide choral music themselves. We also perform regular concerts in churches and other venues, allowing us to widen our repertoire to include more modern sacred and secular music.
