The Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees have approved that French composer Michel Legrand will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters Honorary Degree on May 16, with a public . There will also be a public commencement in June.

According to the proposal outline, “Michel Legrand is a well-known pianist, composer, artist and conductor. Throughout his life he worked hard to have connected musical genres of European classical, American jazz and popular music. His scholar, diversity, artistic talents and accomplishments serve as an exceptional model for students and facility.”
