Edward Lambert, as well as having conducted many choral and orchestral works, accompanied many singers and instrumentalists, has composed music for a wide variety of performers. Having served his apprenticeship in Germany, he worked for many opera companies and festivals here and abroad; for many years he was on the music staff of the Royal Opera, where he worked with many of the greatest singers and conductors of recent times. He was involved in numerous outreach projects around the country and developed innovative ways of composing operas alongside children: for teenagers, The Button Moulder was specially commissioned by the Royal Opera and All In The Mind by W11 Opera. His works have been performed at the Bath and Huddersfield Festivals, the Donmar Warehouse, Snape Maltings, Bloomsbury and Britten Theatres in London and on Radio 3. Several works have recently been performed in the Newbury area and the Newbury Chamber Choir has performed his Te Deum, Rossetti Requiem and the Christmas cantatas Brighter than the Sun and The First Christmas Tree.
