Hindemith Prize for 2017 to Samy Moussa
The Hindemith Prize for this year goes to Canadian composer Samy Moussa. The German prize from the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival is worth €20.000, and will be given to the composer on 17 July this year during a ceremony in Rendsburg-Rüdelsdorf.
Moussa receives the prize because of the ways in which he combines tradition and innovation into a personal style. He is also praised for his musical forms as well as his compositional strictness.
